The Volvo 240 Series was a range of executive vehicles built by the Swedish automobile manufacturer Volvo Car Corporation and sold in America from 1975 to 1993. The 240 Series were mid-size sedans and station wagons featuring a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout. These executive automobiles were engineered with 1.8L I4, 2.0L I4, 2.6L V6, 2.8L V6 gasoline engines; with several diesel engines offered optionally. The power could be transferred to the wheels by a 3-speed automatic, 4- / 5-speed manual, or 4- / 5-speed automatic transmission. The 240 Series was the top-selling Volvo vehicle between the years 1975 and 1982.
